Mattel, the brand responsible for the manufacture and distribution of Barbie dolls, announced its new line of sustainable toys, with plastic taken the oceans.
The manufacturer said that 90% of the raw material for the new doll will be recyclable. The “Barbie Loves the Ocean” collection is in line with Mattel's commitment to, by 2030, produce its toys 100% recycled material.
The launch of the new ecological Barbie has not yet taken place in Brazil, but Mattel informed that it will be distributed to several countries, in addition to the United States.
Richard Dickson, Mattel's president and chief operating officer, said the launch brings a branding purpose that is to inspire environmental awareness in consumers.
“At Mattel, we empower the next generation to explore the wonders of childhood and reach their full potential. We do our part to ensure that children also inherit a world full of potential,” he explained.
Three Barbies and items related to beach life were launched, such as a kiosk, a lounger with umbrella and a volleyball net with items such as cooler, radio and visor.
In the international market, the products are being sold for prices ranging US$9.99 to US$19.99 (between R$50 and R$100).
Despite not being in the Brazilian market, you can buy the collection through the Mattel website, or at official resellers, such as Amazon.
